small rant on removing noise from a chart-based [non-fundamental/news] trading systems
this is not gonna be some sophisticated high level post with complicated words, I've just spent 6 hours socializing around loud music and obnoxious weekend-party-goers that have to go to their miserable jobs on monday so they're doing their best to live a different life for..48 hours..lol, and that tires me, so I'm going to type as plainly as possible as I'm exhausted
the date is early november 2025. on nov 3rd at 108k right before the breakdown, I posted that I believe it's over for a while. at the same time I also decided to fully take a break from crypto news, macro news, ai news, geopolitical news, reading crypto twitter/finwit and the rest of my news terminals/telegrams/software/outlets. give me a fucking break, you know?
a man needs that break, a man has been trading perps for 3 consecutive years NON STOP and ran an average networth to life-changing money in that period. a man is burnt out, a man is fucking tired, rightfully so.
since then, I've immersed myself into the winter laziness, playing master/gm league games, exploring conspiracy theories and watching movies/shows. I've told myself I'll only look at charts [once a day, sometimes twice for 30 seconds at a time] and trade according to them, with 0 outside info flow. if I lose because I'm under-informed, so be it. if I lose because I have no idea what is going on in the world, so be it. if I lose because I'm long and jews decide to bomb something, so be it. who cares, it's just money
surprisingly so, last two months of trading have been..honestly, above average, win-rate wise. obviously due to completely muted volatilty, no record trades or anything [how can you make record trades when largest move is a 3% swing lol]. however what shocked me the most..was how disciliplined I was. still am, actually. I dont think I've had this amount of discilipline..ever? is it due to lack of external information flow? I'm pretty sure it is, man. you're tunneled on one particular thing, laser focused on just one road, linear way of thinking..removing all of the outside noise that could cloud your judgement - resulting in suboptimal trading discipline
that, combined with fairly above average performance, gave me a clear sign that..you know..sometimes..you know what actually, maybe it's always...entirely removing ALL noise and immersing yourself in this pseudo-bubble could actually be the recipe to take your trading to the next level
now obviously I need to catch up on my macro, crypto news, whatnot, as a long-term player/investor, a member of this FINE financial space [lol, lmao even] and someone with decent amt of wealth..a man needs to know what's going on in the world [shoot me man i just wanna play games]
trading wise however, I'm starting to think that tunnel vision and over-indexing into literally just 1 fucking thing might be the best thing since sliced bread
give it a try if you're struggling with information overflow/analysis paralysis, I think from now on I'm drawing a clear seperation line between news [which should be taken as long-term investment flow] and chart-based systems [which should be taken as short-term trading flow]
sure, there's overlap where you can use system for investment thesis, but those are usually anomalies and happen once a year or so
and sure there's people that don't even use charts much and rely on data flow...this post ain't for you, go away
idk, thats all, I just wanted to write what's on my mind
