Let me be clear upfront—I'm not talking down AI, I think AI is genuinely impressive.

But the current state of AI is giving me serious metaverse vibes from back in the day.

Except it's a metaverse on a much larger scale—the Great Leap Forward of AI.

The market loves projecting expectations way too far ahead.

From "Manus is unbeatable" to "Build for Agent," the future supposedly needs no human users—only AI using products, and so on and so forth.

People in 1969 certainly couldn't have imagined humanity would still be stuck on this one small patch of Earth doing the same old things.

After all, it only took a few decades from the invention of the airplane to landing on the moon—so surely within another few decades we'd have colonized Mars, right?

If there had been lots of aerospace stocks back then, I think their performance trajectory wouldn't look much different from today's AI stocks.
