Franklin Templeton files for XRP ETF, opportunity for altcoin

Franklin Templeton has filed an S-1 application with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch the XRP ETF.

The growth of altcoin ETFs in 2025 has spurred major asset managers to join the race, with Franklin Templeton being the latest contender.

Franklin Templeton submits application for XRP ETF

The company recently filed a Form S-1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to introduce the Ripple ETF, expanding its cryptocurrency-focused services.

This move follows Franklin Templeton’s filing for a Solana ETF ( and addition to their existing portfolio with Bitcoin ETF ) and Ethereum ( at spot prices.

It is noteworthy that the company’s participation in the XRP ETF market comes amid a similar wave of profiles, with a total of 17 orders, highlighting the increasing interest of organizations in XRP.

For those who do not know, the growth in altcoin ETF applications has been particularly evident since President Donald Trump’s re-election, marking a changing and seemingly more favorable regulatory environment for cryptocurrency investments.

With the increasing optimism of investors, the competition among asset managers to meet the growing demand for cryptocurrency ETFs is reaching new highs.

Other asset managers join the race

Franklin Templeton’s participation in the XRP ETF race puts the company in competition with large asset managers such as 21Shares, Canary Capital, Grayscale, WisdomTree, and Bitwise, all of whom have applied for similar services.

To date, the U.S. SEC has acknowledged the 19b-4 filings from 21Shares, Bitwise, and Grayscale, putting them ahead in the approval process.

Therefore, to maintain competitiveness, Franklin Templeton also needs to submit its own 19b-4 application to the SEC, which will formally initiate the official evaluation process.

Once recognized, the order will be recorded in the Federal Registration Agency, starting the countdown for the Committee to approve or reject it.

Polymarket Trends and Price Actions

Data from Polymarket shows increasing optimism about the approval of a Ripple ETF in 2025, with 75% of current bettors predicting a positive outcome.

This marks a 5% increase after Franklin Templeton recently filed, reversing previous support.

The cryptocurrency market has also become optimistic, with XRP rising by 3.62% in the past 24 hours, surpassing the daily gains of Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Other altcoin ETFs and the current status

In addition to XRP, excitement for other altcoin ETFs remains strong, with a potential 87% approval for Solana ETF, 69% for Cardano ETF, and 68% for Dogecoin ETF, reflecting increasing confidence in market regulatory acceptance.

Meanwhile, Cboe BZX has filed with US regulatory agencies to integrate staking into Fidelity’s Ether ETF, signaling increasing interest in expanding functionality beyond traditional spot price holdings.
