On April 3, 2026, the Cambodian Senate unanimously approved the Anti-Technology Fraud Law, which became the country's first special legal framework aimed at eliminating illegal scam centers. The bill was passed after a unanimous vote by 112 members of the National Assembly on March 30, 2026, and is now sent to King Norodom Sihamoni for final signing and promulgation. Minister of Justice Kout Rith stated that the law is intended to be "as tough as a fishing net" to ensure the cessation of online scam activities within the kingdom.
