ZachXBT Exposes Social Media Manipulation Network: Using Fake News to Drive Traffic to Crypto Scams, Scale Reaches Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars
Mars Finance News: On March 23, on-chain investigator ZachXBT revealed that a coordinated network of more than 10 accounts is using fear-mongering content related to war on social platform X to attract traffic and ultimately direct users to crypto scam projects. This network purchases existing fan-based accounts, frequently posts sensational “apocalypse” content, and amplifies the message through multiple small accounts sharing and reposting, quickly gaining millions of views and extensive interactions. Investigations show that these accounts also use AI-generated fake personas, such as a forged “Asian version of Mario Nawfal,” to enhance credibility. After gaining traffic, the accounts promote fake airdrops or crypto project scams, including a concentrated promotion of a pump-and-dump project called ORAMAMA on February 22, 2026, which was later no longer mentioned. On-chain data indicates that this operation has generated six-figure profits for the behind-the-scenes team. Meanwhile, many genuine large accounts participate unintentionally in comments and shares, further amplifying the content’s reach. ZachXBT warns that this combination of “traffic farms + AI content + crypto scams” is highly mature and easily replicable. If such mechanisms are exploited by higher-level organizations, their potential impact could far exceed financial scams and even evolve into tools for manipulating public opinion. ZachXBT urges platforms to strengthen regulation, ban such manipulative behaviors, and pursue legal accountability. He also recommends users carefully verify account history and source information before engaging, to counter the increasing prevalence of fake content and “engagement bait.”
