AI agents can now own digital wallets and make payments without human intervention. Coinbase has launched the infrastructure for this and is pushing Congress to ensure these agents #البيتكوين never use it.
Brian Armstrong said: "Soon there will be more AI agents conducting transactions than humans."
It's worth noting that each agent executes its transactions on Coinbase's Base network, and each payment is made using USDC. Coinbase purchases U.S. Treasury bonds with those dollars resulting from the transaction to achieve near-risk-free returns, while the user gets nothing.
The company is now pressuring Congress to restrict the tax exemption for small transactions to stablecoins only. If Bitcoin received this exemption, AI agents would use it for payments. But if stablecoins alone receive the exemption, then USDC would become the default choice for every AI agent in the world.
The idea is that they don't want Bitcoin to be used as cash; they want every transaction on earth — whether conducted by a human or AI — to go through them so they can benefit from the fees....
