The older sister-in-law sighed again at the New Year’s dinner: “That brat of mine, he's a sophomore now, playing video games at home every day, and he even talks back when I scold him.”
A distant cousin holding a wine glass leaned over and smiled as he spoke: “Auntie, my family bought me a Mercedes, did you buy your cousin one? No wonder he’s playing games, he doesn’t have a car to go out and have fun. I suggest you buy him a car quickly, and a good one! That way he’ll quit gaming and go out socializing. If he drives well, he might even bring home a daughter-in-law.” The older sister-in-law froze for three seconds, her expression shifting from expectation to doubt, then to anger: “You little brat, you’re so poor! We don’t have that kind of money to buy a Mercedes!” The cousin shrugged and added a classic line: “Auntie, this is something you just don’t understand. Gaming is the cheapest form of entertainment for kids from poor families. Of course, Auntie, if you really can’t afford a car, don’t force it. Let him keep playing games; it’s better than wasting money, falling in love early, or fighting. When he graduates and can’t find a job, then we’ll see. Anyway, he’s already a king in the game, and being a laid-back fish in real life is pretty nice too.” Everyone at the table burst into laughter.
