Flow suffers millions of dollars in execution layer vulnerability attacks, ecosystem quickly cuts losses by 99.9%, accounts have been restored
【CryptoWorld】The Flow blockchain experienced a serious security crisis this weekend. Dapper Labs CEO @roham@ disclosed on social media that attackers exploited a critical vulnerability in the execution layer to successfully steal millions of dollars in assets, only to be stopped by joint efforts from various parties within the Flow ecosystem.
The emergency response was quite swift—validators shut down the network within just 30 minutes to prevent further losses. The core Flow development team and community developers immediately began working to identify the root cause of the vulnerability and push forward with a fix. Notably, the ecosystem’s coordination efficiency was impressive: the Flow Foundation, cross-chain bridge operators, exchanges, and ecosystem developers reached consensus on the fix within 48 hours.
As of now, the network under the Cadence environment has fully resumed normal operation. The account recovery progress is encouraging—99.9% of accounts have completed data restoration. @roham@ emphasized that this security incident was mitigated thanks to the architecture’s isolation design, which limited the scope of damage, and also demonstrated the stability of Flow’s decentralized process under pressure. Dapper users remained protected throughout the incident. This rapid and orderly emergency response sets a benchmark for the entire ecosystem.
