EU's Chat Control legislation faces significant rollback

The proposed EU Chat Control regulation has been substantially diluted from its original form. What started as a comprehensive surveillance framework has now been whittled down—though observers note this reprieve may only be temporary.

The softened version reflects growing pushback from privacy advocates and crypto communities who flagged the law's potential impact on decentralized communications and Web3 infrastructure. Industry stakeholders remain cautiously optimistic, yet they're keeping a close eye on any potential revival of stricter clauses in future legislative cycles.

Haha, the EU finally chickened out this time. The privacy army still proves useful.

Oh well, at least there's some conscience now. The bill is being weakened faster than I expected.

honestly, if you run the regression analysis on EU regulatory volatility, the probability of this "rollback" sticking is statistically insignificant. they'll be back with round two within 18 months, ceteris paribus.

Haha, finally showing some conscience, but this compromise came too late...

Haha, the cooling down of Chat Control is quite interesting. It feels like a rocket being forced to decelerate outside the atmosphere, with gravity assist unavoidable... But this is just a temporary landing, and we still need to keep an eye on the real re-launch window.
