Today I was chatting with a friend about trading psychology, and suddenly realized a harsh truth:
Selling a coin too early and seeing it continue to rise? Honestly, it doesn’t feel that bad. After all, a profit is a profit once it’s in your pocket.
But if your unrealized profits retract, and you watch the money you almost had slip away? That’s real torture.
One of my buddies summed it up perfectly: Selling too early is like your ex getting married—just send your blessings, she’s not yours anyway. Profit retracement is like getting cheated on—that was supposed to be yours! 😭
This analogy is spot-on. Now I instantly understand why so many people would rather miss out than take profit and watch the price retrace. Whether your mentality collapses or not really depends on whether you ever actually “owned” that money.

This analogy is spot on—the feeling of getting cheated on is indeed a thousand times worse than missing out on a pump.

This metaphor is truly spot-on. Once you open a mental account, there's no turning back.

Oh my god, this analogy is spot on. The moment I got cheated on, I really wanted to smash the screen.
