Whale woke up after 14 years of inactivity and transferred 1,000 BTC
An anonymous address that received 1,000 BTC in 2010 moved the funds for the first time.
At that time, the amount of bitcoin was equivalent to only $3,883.
Today, the value of the coins exceeds $89 million.
An anonymous bitcoin whale, who had held assets for 14 years, transferred 1,000 BTC—( more than $89 million at the time of the transaction)—to a new wallet.
According to the data, the bitcoin owner received them back in 2010, when the price of the first cryptocurrency was only $3.88. Thus, the initial investment amounted to just $3,883.
It is worth noting that on the Documenting Bitcoin page on X (( formerly Twitter)), it was mentioned that two Casascius coins, each containing 1,000 BTC, were moved for the first time in more than 13 years. The note explained that these are early "physical bitcoins" with private keys hidden under a hologram that records any tampering and can be activated on the blockchain. Block number 926567 matches the one noted by Lookonchain experts.
X users noticed this activity. One discussion participant added:
"The awakening of ‘sleeping’ coins is not in itself a bullish or bearish signal—it's more of a stress test for the market. If $89 million does not cause changes in market depth, bitcoin liquidity is high enough to ‘swallow’ such an event."
In September 2025, another large player also moved 1,000 BTC after 12 years of inactivity.
