Both Kalshi and Polymarket set new monthly all-time highs in trading volume in November, and YZi Labs also announced its investment in prediction markets Opinion and predict.fun. This week, Kalshi announced the completion of a $1 billion funding round at an $11 billion valuation, making Kalshi co-founder Lopes Lara the world’s youngest self-made female billionaire. In addition to partnering with the Solana network, Kalshi also announced collaborations with leading mainstream media outlets CNN and CNBC, with Kalshi’s prediction data to be featured in real-time during news broadcasts. Kalshi will also launch a CNBC-branded section on its platform, showcasing prediction markets curated by the media network. Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour stated that this kind of integration is the “next stage of evolution” in financial reporting, “shifting from presenting what is happening now to real-time forecasting of future trends.” Previously, competitor Polymarket said on CBS’s “60 Minutes” program that prediction markets are “currently the most accurate forecasting tool invented by humans.” Combined, the two platforms have surpassed $45 billion in cumulative trading volume, and institutions including Google Finance, Yahoo Finance, Robinhood, and ICE have all started cooperating with prediction market platforms.
