On April 30, Optimism will unlock 31,340,000 OP tokens, which is approximately 1.89% of the total supply of tokens in circulation.

Information about OP

Optimism is a Layer 2 solution (Layer 2, L2), designed to increase the speed and scalability of the Ethereum network. The project was created to improve the performance and speed of Ethereum transactions while simultaneously reducing the cost of fees. Optimism utilizes optimistic rollup technology.

Optimistic rollups are a second-layer technology that operates on the Ethereum mainnet and significantly increases its throughput. These rollups allow multiple transactions to be bundled into a single block, which is then confirmed on the Ethereum mainnet. This approach greatly speeds up transaction processing and reduces costs, as more transactions can be processed simultaneously.

The Optimism system is compatible with standard Ethereum development tools such as Solidity and the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), allowing developers to easily migrate applications to this platform.

OP is the native governance token. The token can be used to participate in the governance of projects within the Optimism Collective community and to vote on protocol upgrades and the allocation of fund distributions.
