ChainCatcher reports that Korean police are investigating a series of revenge attacks funded by cryptocurrency. The suspects receive 300-600 USD in cryptocurrency via Telegram from anonymous employers to vandalize and defame targeted residences.

In a recent case in a Chinese city, a suspect in his twenties, Lim, graffiti’d the victim’s door with red paint, scattered food waste, and smeared human excrement in the stairwell. Korean authorities believe a group claiming to be a private revenge organization is active on a Korean-language Telegram channel. Similar phenomena have been observed in Russia, where intermediaries offer customized revenge services through cryptocurrency and Telegram, charging up to $1,500, mainly using Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to maintain anonymity.
