Ubisoft announces release date for Captain Laserhawk game on Arbitrum as free NFT minting begins
Ubisoft, a giant in the gaming industry and the publisher behind famous brands like Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance, has announced the release date for the upcoming game ‘Captain Laserhawk: The GAME’ on the Ethereum layer 2 Arbitrum platform. At the same time, a free NFT minting event for the game is also taking place today.
The Niji Warrior NFT collection of the game, launched today in the form of free casting on the Magic Eden market, will give owners the right to participate in game mechanics, map design, and story development. Players who own these tokens can access exclusive privileges, participate in community decisions, and develop their NFTs based on the level of interaction.
Didier Genevois, the technical director and production director of Ubisoft, said:
This project represents a new step in the development of cooperative games, where players become co-creators.
Each of the 10,000 Niji Warrior NFTs describes a pixelated robot or creature, represented through artwork displayed on the Magic Eden platform. This approach is similar to the artwork for NFT Warlords in Ubisoft’s game Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, released last year.
This project is a collaboration between Ubisoft, Arbitrum Foundation, and Sequence, the Web3 game development platform from Horizon - the developer of the competitive card game Skyweaver.
Nina Rong, Partner Manager of Arbitrum Foundation, shared:
“Previously, players could only follow the storyline, character development, and game design created by developers. However, everything has now changed. We are delighted to see power being transferred to the gaming community.”
Ubisoft recently launched Champions Tactics, the company’s first blockchain game, built around NFTs on the Oasys network. The company has been actively involved in the Web3 space for many years, supporting startups and networks, releasing experimental projects, and even incorporating NFTs into a game in its Ghost Recon series.
