Mars Finance News, April 16 — The European Commission announced on the 15th that it has issued a supplementary statement of objections, initially determining that the company still violates EU antitrust rules after adjusting measures to restrict third-party artificial intelligence (AI) assistants from accessing its instant messaging app WhatsApp. The Commission plans to require the company to restore access for third-party AI assistants to WhatsApp. Meta prohibited third-party AI assistants from accessing the app in the update to WhatsApp’s business solution terms in October 2025. In February 2026, the EU Commission preliminarily found this move to violate EU antitrust rules; in March, Meta released a revised policy, which, although lifting the ban on third-party AI assistants, introduced a fee framework for third-party AI assistants.
