Last night, I was drinking with a lawyer friend, and he told me a case that almost made me spit out my drink.

A woman reported that she was beaten by her husband, with a broken rib, and stayed in the hospital for a week.
The man was detained for ten days.
The woman demanded 400k yuan plus a car, or she would sue and have him sentenced.
The man's family was originally planning to pay, but then heard that the man might be fired from his job because of this—an iron rice bowl, earning over 20,000 yuan a month.
In an instant, the in-laws changed their attitude: "We'll pay the medical bills, not a penny more."
The woman said, "Then see you in court."
The in-laws replied, "Sue wherever you want. Our son has lost his job, and we’re not paying a dime. If you sue him, he’s just a jobless vagrant. You handle it yourself."
The woman couldn’t swallow this insult and went back to check the surveillance footage.
Her home’s living room was equipped with cameras, clearly capturing the man kicking her in the ribs.
But—
The footage also showed the previous three minutes.
First, she smashed the TV, then slapped the man twice.
The man pushed her, and she lunged at him, grabbing and scratching, scratching for over ten times, leaving blood all over his face.
Finally, the man lost his temper and kicked her, causing her to fall and fracture her bone.
After watching the footage, the woman was silent for three days.
Then she locked the lawsuit documents in a cabinet and never mentioned divorce again.
Now, the two still live together, just sleeping in separate rooms.
Some people’s grievances aren’t without reason; it’s just that they didn’t hit back when they were hit.
Later, I asked the lawyer if the man was eventually fired.
He smiled and said, "The company was about to fire him, but then the woman went to the company and said, ‘I won’t pursue this; it was a misunderstanding,’ and the man got a serious warning but kept his job."
What do you think she was really after?
