On March 13, Tencent responded to Apple’s reduction of commission rates, calling it “an exciting development for the industry.” They also stated that this change reflects a response to and respect for the voices of Chinese users and the broad developer community, and is a positive signal for the healthy development of the digital ecosystem.

Earlier today, Apple announced a reduction in commission rates, stating that starting March 15, 2026, the commission rates for the iOS and iPadOS App Store in Mainland China will be adjusted.

The standard commission rate for Apple in-app purchases and paid apps will be reduced from the current 30% to 25%. The commission rates for Apple in-app purchases under the App Store Small Business Program and Mini Apps Partner Program, as well as the commission rate for auto-renewing subscriptions after the first year that meet the criteria, will be reduced from the current 15% to 12%. Starting March 15, developers will enjoy these adjusted commission rates without needing to sign new terms beforehand.
