Data released by the National Energy Administration shows that by 2025, China’s non-fossil fuel energy consumption will increase by approximately 160 million tons of standard coal compared to the previous year, accounting for 30% of the increase in non-fossil fuel energy consumption during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
The proportion of non-fossil fuel energy consumption in primary energy consumption will increase by about 1.9 percentage points on top of the 1.9 percentage point increase in 2024, significantly surpassing the 20% target set in the 14th Five-Year Plan. China’s total non-fossil fuel energy consumption is comparable to that of G7 countries, accelerating the low-carbon energy transition.
