The report states that large language model digital agents can effectively replace most of the work of 20,000 to 30,000 independent agents in the U.S., especially in low-complexity transaction areas such as standard home and auto insurance. Analysts studied six major insurance companies, including Travelers and Progressive, and found that a substantial portion of the commissions paid to independent agents in 2025 will come from low-complexity business.
