Impact of regional tensions: Iraq’s giant oil field announces suspension of production

According to CCTV News on March 4, on March 3 local time, the Iraqi Ministry of Oil issued a statement saying that due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz causing disruptions to international shipping, oil tankers are blocked from entering the Persian Gulf waters, leading to a shortage of oil tankers at southern Iraqi ports. The country’s southern giant Rumaila oil field has announced a suspension of production.

In addition, affected by regional tensions, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq announced on the 3rd that it would suspend oil exports from the Iraqi Kurdistan Region to the port of Ceyhan in Turkey.
