On January 27th, the Wuhan Qiaokou Branch of SPD Bank assisted local police in arresting a scam suspect with their professional and efficient emergency response capabilities, successfully intercepting 20,000 yuan involved in the scam. The branch received a written commendation from the Wuhan Office for Combating and Managing Telecom and Internet Fraud.

In the afternoon of January 27th, an elderly female customer hurried to the Qiaokou Branch of SPD Bank to withdraw cash at the counter. During the transaction, the teller noticed that the deposit and withdrawal times were very close, indicating a clear anomaly. The staff immediately heightened their alertness, patiently inquired about the source of the funds and the purpose of the withdrawal. During the conversation, the customer’s responses to key questions were vague and ambiguous. The staff judged that the withdrawal might be related to a scam and promptly reported the situation to the operations supervisor, who immediately forwarded it to the local Qiaokou Anti-Fraud Center. Meanwhile, staff continued communicating with the customer to maintain control of the scene, buying valuable time for police to respond and set up surveillance.

After police arrived, they confirmed through investigation that the withdrawal suspect was highly likely involved in a scam. With the strong assistance of the Qiaokou Branch staff, police ultimately arrested the suspect. From the moment suspicious behavior was detected to the suspect’s arrest, only about an hour passed. The branch successfully intercepted 20,000 yuan of scam-related funds, and the criminal plan of the scammer was completely thwarted.
