First, remember to avoid cold and凉. All cold and凉 foods are enemies of the gut.
Second, eat regularly. Finish dinner at least four hours before bedtime. Avoid late-night snacks and don't eat anything at night.
Third, keep a good mood. Many people say, "I don't eat凉 foods, so why am I cold?" In Chinese, there's a phrase called "心寒" (heart cold). I believe many people experience this. What does it mean? It refers to emotions, which can also cause coldness. Many traditional Chinese medicine practitioners don't realize this. If you're constantly depressed, suppressed, or frustrated, your body will generate coldness. So, always stay happy and joyful.
Fourth, pay attention to keeping warm, especially as autumn coolness sets in. When sleeping at night, be sure to cover yourself. You don't need to cover other parts, and limbs can be uncovered, but the stomach area must be kept warm.
Fifth, try to eat less refined rice and flour, and reduce intake of foods with additives. These foods are everywhere, all over the streets. What's the goal? It's about taste. People eat with their taste buds, seeking deliciousness, but these foods offer no benefits to the gut.
