Reporters learned from China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Shanghai Railway Group) that with the Lantern Festival approaching, passenger flow during the Spring Festival travel rush in the Yangtze River Delta remains high. On March 1, 2.981 million passengers were transported, a year-on-year increase of 25.1%. Today, an estimated 2.45 million passengers are expected to be transported. Shanghai Railway Group has increased capacity in key areas and peak periods, planning to add 179 passenger trains on the 2nd and expand 125 EMU trains, including 119 direct passenger trains mainly serving long-distance routes from Northeast China, Yunnan-Guizhou, Sichuan-Chongqing, Northwest China, Hunan, Hubei, Henan, and other regions to major cities in the Yangtze River Delta; 60 intra-rail passenger trains, mainly serving short-distance routes from Hefei, Fuyang, Bengbu, Xuzhou, and other areas to Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, and other cities.
