On March 2nd, recently, Anthropic was banned by Trump for refusing the Pentagon’s demands for “autonomous lethal weapons” and “mass surveillance.” Meanwhile, competitor OpenAI seamlessly stepped in and partnered with the U.S. Department of Defense, successfully replacing Anthropic. As a result, numerous global tech and cultural celebrities, including Scarlett Johansson, Elon Musk, and Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett, announced their boycott of OpenAI. Hundreds of employees from Google and OpenAI even voluntarily signed petitions supporting Anthropic’s stance on setting limits for AI use by the Pentagon. Against this backdrop, Anthropic’s Claude quickly rose to the top of the AI product charts on the App Store. In addition to public opinion, this trend is closely related to a feature called “Import Memory” introduced by Anthropic. This feature allows users to copy a specific prompt into ChatGPT, CEX, or other products to export stored user memories (such as preferences, habits, and long-term information), which can then be pasted into Claude’s memory settings for migration.
