Tech Home, March 1 — Tesla has begun its first FSD (Supervised) road testing in Abu Dhabi under the supervision of the Integrated Transport Center (Abu Dhabi Department of Transportation).
This project is the first official testing framework for Tesla’s FSD (Supervised) in the United Arab Emirates. The FSD (Supervised) road testing is supported by the country’s Intelligent and Autonomous Systems Committee and is conducted in collaboration with the UAE Cabinet Office Legislative Laboratory.
Abdullah Hamad Al Ghaferi, Acting Director General of the Integrated Transport Center (Abu Dhabi Department of Transportation), emphasized the agency’s regulatory role in supervising the FSD (Supervised) testing in a press release.
The regulation and oversight of Tesla’s advanced autonomous driving technology testing by the Integrated Transport Center (Abu Dhabi Department of Transportation) reflect its legislative and supervisory functions. These tests represent a qualitative leap, aimed at evaluating the technology’s performance in real-world conditions and collecting necessary data to verify its maturity before broader deployment in the future.
He stated, “Through this standardized framework and in collaboration with strategic partners, we aim to balance supporting innovation, encouraging the application of intelligent solutions, and ensuring the safety of road users, aligning with the emirate’s development goals of building an advanced, safe, and sustainable transportation system.”
IT Home notes that Tesla is actively promoting the deployment of FSD (Supervised) outside the United States. In a recent interview with Andreas Tirilis, head of the Berlin Gigafactory, Elon Musk said Tesla aims to obtain approval for FSD (Supervised) in the Netherlands as early as March this year.
“Tesla has the most advanced real-world AI, and we hope it can be approved in Europe as soon as possible. The relevant authorities told me that approval in the Netherlands is expected on March 20. That’s the information I received. I hope this date remains unchanged. I believe the European public will be amazed by Tesla’s autonomous driving AI capabilities,” Musk said.
