On February 5, 2026, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Miao Deyu met with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Gharib Abadi in Beijing. Gharib Abadi briefed on the domestic situation in Iran and the Iran nuclear issue, emphasizing Iran’s commitment to resolving the problem through diplomatic means and willingness to promote negotiations on the basis of fairness and justice. Iran opposes external deterrence and pressure, appreciates China’s contributions to maintaining regional and global peace and stability, and welcomes China to play a greater role. Miao Deyu outlined China’s principled stance on the Iran issue, stating that China closely monitors the situation in Iran, supports Iran in safeguarding sovereignty, security, and national dignity, and defending legitimate rights and interests. China opposes unilateral bullying and military pressure in international relations and opposes interference in other countries’ internal affairs. China is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with all parties, including Iran, to uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and basic norms of international relations, maintain the principle of sovereign equality, and promote international fairness and justice.
