Hangzhou Bank recently experienced a significant personnel change, with Zhang Jingke officially taking over as President. The regulatory authority approved his appointment on February 28, taking only 47 days from the board’s review to approval, setting the fastest record in the bank’s history for president appointment approval. This appointment fills a 10-month vacancy in the president position, drawing high market attention.

Zhang Jingke’s promotion path clearly demonstrates his career development. Born in 1978, this executive holds a master’s degree in project management and a senior economist title. He joined Hangzhou Bank in 2001 after graduating from Fudan University and has served for 25 years. Starting from grassroots business positions, he gradually advanced to core management roles at the head office, including vice president of the Technology Branch, president of the Cultural and Creative Branch, and general manager of the Asset Management Department. Since July 2023, he has served as vice president. His comprehensive experience from specialized business to overall management provides a solid foundation for his leadership as president.

Compared to recent executive appointment cycles at the bank, Zhang Jingke’s approval efficiency is notably ahead. The previous president, Yu Liming, was appointed in December 2022 and took 84 days to complete the approval process; the current chairman, Song Jianbin, took about 60 days to become president in 2014, and 72 days to be promoted to chairman in 2022. This time difference reflects an optimization trend in regulatory approval processes and highlights the thorough preparation for Zhang Jingke’s qualification.

This personnel adjustment involves a broader restructuring of the senior management team. Former supervisor Wang Lixiong, considered an important successor after Yu Liming resigned in April 2025, was born in 1972 and has extensive corporate banking experience. Before becoming supervisor in 2023, he served as vice president for six years and holds 717,400 shares of the bank. With the implementation of the new Company Law, Hangzhou Bank abolished its Supervisory Committee in December 2025. Wang Lixiong was transferred to vice president and approved for his position in February 2026, forming a new senior management structure of “1 President, 7 Vice Presidents.”

As Zhang Jingke takes office, Hangzhou Bank is at a critical stage of operational transformation. The 2025 earnings report shows the bank achieved an operating income of 38.799 billion yuan, up 1.09% year-on-year, with net interest income and net fee and commission income increasing by 12.83% and 13.10%, respectively. Total assets exceeded 2.3 trillion yuan, an 11.96% increase from the beginning of the year. Despite steady growth, under declining interest rates and fintech impacts, how to increase the proportion of intermediary business income and optimize asset structure has become key issues for the new management.

Market analysis suggests that Zhang Jingke’s younger background and experience in fintech management align well with Hangzhou Bank’s “digital intelligence” transformation strategy. His experience in the Technology and Cultural Creative Finance Department is expected to help the bank develop differentiated competitive advantages in specialized finance. With the completion of senior management adjustments, the bank’s strategic implementation in retail banking, wealth management, and inclusive finance may accelerate.
