China Energy News Network (Reporter Zhao Yuejing) — On February 28, the key national oil and gas infrastructure projects, including the Su-Wan-Yu Main Line, the Wen 23-Anqing Natural Gas Pipeline, and the Shandong Pipeline Network North Main Line (Phase 1), simultaneously broke ground in Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan, and Shandong. This marks a new stage in the construction of the “National Grid” for natural gas, which is significant for improving the nationwide natural gas pipeline layout, promoting regional energy structure transformation, and high-quality economic development.
The Su-Wan-Yu Main Line project starts from the Tongyu Branch Gas Station in Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, and ends at the Lu Shandong Compression Station in Pingdingshan City, Henan Province. It passes through 14 cities and 29 counties (districts) in Jiangsu, Anhui, and Henan, with a total length of 822.5 kilometers, a design pressure of 10 MPa, and an annual transmission capacity of 18.3 billion cubic meters. The Wen 23-Anqing Natural Gas Pipeline project is a key channel for “North to South Gas Transmission.” The new pipeline is 645.5 kilometers long, starting from the Wen 23 Gas Storage and Injection/Extraction Station in Puyang County, Puyang City, Henan Province, passing through 8 cities and 20 districts (counties) in Henan, Shandong, and Anhui, and ending at the Anqing Liaison Station in Daguan District, Anqing City, Anhui Province. It has a design pressure of 10 MPa, a designed capacity of 15 billion cubic meters, and a long-term capacity of 25.3 billion cubic meters. The Shandong Pipeline Network North Main Line (Phase 1) project is 257 kilometers long, passing through Yantai and Weifang, with an annual gas transmission capacity of 11.8 billion cubic meters.
Once completed, these three main pipelines will significantly enhance the density and interconnectivity of the pipeline network in central and eastern China, which is crucial for improving the nationwide natural gas pipeline layout, promoting regional energy structure transformation, and supporting high-quality economic development.
The State Pipeline Group continues to improve the “National Grid” layout. At the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan, it increased investment in energy infrastructure construction. The combined investment in the three main pipelines exceeds 30 billion yuan, which can effectively drive the development of related upstream and downstream industries such as steel, equipment manufacturing, and construction. This will better support the construction of a modern industrial system, ensure national energy security, and promote high-quality development, injecting strong momentum into the building of an energy powerhouse.
