CCTV reporters have learned that on February 28 local time, according to two U.S. sources and a U.S. official familiar with the matter, Israel and the United States chose to launch an attack on Iran on Saturday, coinciding with a meeting between Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei and his senior aides.

Israel claims that Khamenei and his senior aides, including Iran’s Defense Council Secretary Ali Shamkhani and IRGC Commander-in-Chief Mohammad Pakpour, were killed in the airstrike. Two Iranian sources said that shortly before the airstrike began, Khamenei met with Shamkhani and the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, at a secure location on Saturday.

Earlier, an Israeli senior official stated that Khamenei’s body had been recovered. U.S. President Donald Trump posted on his “Truth Social” platform that intelligence agencies tracked the whereabouts of Iran’s Supreme Leader and subsequently killed him.
