The 2025 National Economic and Social Development Statistical Bulletin Released! The added value of transportation, warehousing, and postal services reached 6,209.2 billion yuan, an increase of 5.2%
On February 28, the National Bureau of Statistics released the “Statistical Bulletin of the People’s Republic of China on National Economic and Social Development 2025.” According to preliminary calculations, the annual gross domestic product (GDP) was 14,018.79 billion yuan, an increase of 5.0% over the previous year.
In the service sector, the added value of transportation, warehousing, and postal services for the year was 6,209.2 billion yuan, up 5.2% from the previous year.
The total freight volume for the year was 59.7 billion tons, a 3.2% increase from the previous year. The freight turnover was 27,411.6 billion ton-kilometers, up 4.6%. The port’s cargo throughput reached 18.3 billion tons, an increase of 4.2% year-on-year, including 5.7 billion tons of foreign trade cargo, up 4.7%. The port’s container throughput was 35.447 million TEUs, an increase of 6.8%.
The total passenger transportation volume for the year was 17.1 billion trips, a 0.3% increase from the previous year. Passenger transportation turnover was 3,554.6 billion person-kilometers, up 5.0%.
By the end of the year, the national civilian vehicle ownership was 36.611 million units (including 6.81 million tricycles and low-speed trucks), an increase of 1.343 million units from the end of the previous year. Private vehicle ownership was 32.336 million units, an increase of 1.348 million. The number of civilian sedans was 19.773 million, up 429,000, with private sedans accounting for 18.691 million, an increase of 487,000.
The total postal industry delivery volume for the year was 216.5 billion items, an 11.8% increase over the previous year. The postal industry handled 680 million postal letters, 30 million parcels, and 199 billion express deliveries, with an income of 1,493.9 billion yuan from express services.
