People’s Daily Online Beijing, February 28 — (Reporter Yang Xi) The National Bureau of Statistics released the “2025 National Economic and Social Development Statistical Bulletin” on February 28, which shows that by the end of 2025, the urbanization rate of the permanent resident population nationwide was 67.89%, an increase of 0.89 percentage points from the end of the previous year. Our country’s rural-urban integration and regional coordinated development are making solid progress.
By region, the gross regional product (GRP) for the whole year was 73.0876 trillion yuan in the eastern region, a 5.0% increase; 29.9108 trillion yuan in the central region, up 5.2%; 29.875 trillion yuan in the western region, up 5.1%; and 6.5035 trillion yuan in the northeast region, an increase of 4.1%. The GRP for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region was 11.9918 trillion yuan, up 5.4%; the Yangtze River Economic Belt region’s GRP was 65.8336 trillion yuan, up 5.2%; and the Yangtze River Delta region’s GRP was 34.6595 trillion yuan, up 5.4%. Significant progress has been made in regional strategies such as the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, ecological protection of the Yellow River Basin, and high-quality development. The Hainan Free Trade Port has launched full-island closed-loop operation.
