The voting phase of Bangladesh’s 13th National Parliament election ended at 4:30 PM local time. Voting started at 7:30 AM on the same day. The Bangladesh Election Commission stated that after voting concludes, the counting process will begin immediately, and it is expected to be completed by 10:00 AM on February 13. Because voters cast two ballots this time, the vote counting will take longer than usual. Members of Bangladesh’s National Parliament serve a five-year term. If a party or coalition wins more than half of the 300 seats in the parliament, they can form a government and nominate a prime minister. This election is the first nationwide election since the nationwide protests in Bangladesh in August 2024 and the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. (CCTV News)
