This marks the first deployment of autonomous vehicles in Abu Dhabi’s city center. With this service expansion, WeRide and Uber’s Robotaxi operations now cover approximately 70% of Abu Dhabi’s core area. Currently, each vehicle is staffed with one safety operator, with plans to gradually transition to fully driverless operation. Tawasul Transport, a local transportation company in the UAE, is the operator of the WeRide Robotaxi fleet on the Uber platform, providing fleet management services.
