Deep Tide TechFlow News, February 28 — Anthropic has vowed to challenge the U.S. Department of Defense’s decision to blacklist it in court, claiming the agency refused to lift restrictions on military use of its Claude model. The company also expressed being “very upset” over the escalating dispute. This cutting-edge AI company is doing something few others have since Trump’s return to the White House — openly challenging the Trump administration.

Earlier on Friday, Trump and Defense Secretary Hegseth threatened to cut ties with Anthropic through a “supply chain risk” designation, a move traditionally used only against “foreign adversaries.” Anthropic stated, “No matter how the ‘Department of Defense’ intimidates or punishes us, it will not change our stance on mass surveillance or fully automated weapons.” “We will challenge any supply chain risk designation through legal channels.” (Jin10)
