According to the People’s Bank of China, payment transactions continued to grow during the Spring Festival holiday (February 15 to February 23, 2026).
Data shows that UnionPay and the National Payment Platform processed a total of 39.302 billion transactions, amounting to 13.12 trillion yuan. The average daily number of transactions and amount increased by 37.45% and 19.26%, respectively, compared to the Spring Festival holiday in 2025 (January 28 to February 4, 2025). Among them, the average daily number of transactions and amounts for payments from overseas visitors to China via UnionPay and the National Payment Platform increased by 78.10% and 44.33%, respectively.
