US non-farm employment data, scheduled to be released today after the shutdown
The September non-farm employment data, which was postponed due to the longest government shutdown in U.S. federal history, is scheduled to be released today. It was originally set to be announced on October 3rd but was delayed due to administrative gaps.
Expected Employment Indicators
In September, the U.S. non-farm sector is expected to see an increase of 50,000 jobs, compared to 22,000 jobs added in the previous month. This suggests a gradual expansion of signs of a weakening labor market. The unemployment rate is expected to remain stable at around 4.3%.
Wage Growth Rate and Inflation Pressure
The average hourly wage is expected to increase by 0.3% this month, with an annual growth rate of 4.7%, remaining consistent with previous figures. This indicates that wage growth remains stable.
October Employment Report Not Released
However, the October non-farm employment report will not be published. Due to delays in budget approval, the Current Population Survey (CPS) household survey data collection was impossible during the October period. As a result, there will be disruptions in the usual monthly employment statistics release schedule.
