• On September 3, the NPIXEL Meta division, which is actively developing the highly anticipated Metapixel (METAPIXEL) project within Aptos, suddenly announced its dissolution.

Since the mainnet launch in Q4 2022, Aptos has shown a gradual increase in daily trading volume and experienced a significant uptick in Q3 2023. In particular, in the third quarter of 2023, the daily volume of transactions on the platform reached 489, 000, an increase of 207% compared to the previous quarter. During the mainnet launch in Q4 2022, there was an uptick in trading volume due to airdrop activity, while the Aptos token unlocking event led to a sharp increase in trading volume in July and August.

The number of daily active wallets reflects the trend of daily trading volume, showing that transactions are relatively evenly distributed across wallets, rather than being concentrated in a particular wallet. In the fourth quarter of last year, with the launch of the mainnet and related airdrops, the number of active wallets peaked. Subsequently, similar to the daily trading volume, the number of daily active wallets rose to about 69, 000 in the third quarter, an increase of 329% from the previous quarter.

Since the launch of the Aptos mainnet in October 2022, the total value locked (TVL) has remained stable, ranging between $600 million and $700 million. More than half of TVL on the Aptos network is held by Thala Labs’ Thala Swap and LiquidSwap, which are the largest decentralized applications (dApps) in the ecosystem.

In Q3, Aptos had 113 validators worldwide in 25 countries, including South America, Europe, Russia, Japan, and South Korea. Notably, there are 13 validators in South Korea alone, highlighting the importance and potential of the Korean market for Aptos. The United States has the most validators, with 14. Currently, there are 868.8 million APT tokens staked on the Aptos network, accounting for 81.8% of the total supply.

The Aptos network continues to benefit from the contributions of an average of about 60 developers, with code commits per week averaging 100. In Q3 in particular, the number of developers increased by about 8% and the number of code commits per week increased by 15% compared to Q2. These metrics reflect the ongoing and active maintenance of the network.

AIP-35

Prior to AIP-35, if a developer submitted the wrong code, the transaction would fail and no fees would be charged. However, the implementation of [AIP-35: Enable charge_iniant_violation] on July 18 introduced the ability to charge for errors in transactions, which is a positive step towards reducing damage and enhancing network security.

AIP-39

Previously, gas fees were paid by the sender of the transaction. However, [AIP-39: Enable Fee Payers], which was implemented on August 23, added the feature of third-party payment of gas fees. SIMILAR TO ETHEREUM’S PAY MASTER, THIS IMPROVEMENT IS EXPECTED TO SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE THE USER EXPERIENCE, AND THE EXPECTED CONVENIENCE WILL BRING THE NETWORK TO LIFE.

In August, following extensive collaborations with several well-known Web2 companies, Microsoft joined the list of companies building on Aptos, including Google Cloud, Mastercard, NBCUniversal, KYD Labs, NPIXEL (METAPIXEL), MoonPay, and Franklin Templeton.

This strategic partnership aims to integrate the AI ecosystem into the blockchain. Leveraging Microsoft’s advanced AI technology, the collaboration will introduce the “Aptos Assistant” with natural language support. Users will benefit from AI’s assistance in coding implementation and dApp development, placing Aptos at the forefront of AIxDeFi innovation.

SushiSwap

At the Aptos Hackathon in Singapore, Aptos announced a partnership with SushiSwap, a cross-chain DeFi platform. The Aptos Foundation has launched a collaboration with Flowcarbon on sustainability initiatives.
