Gate Layer Now Supports Gas-Free On-Chain Swaps

Updated: 2025-11-06 09:29

As Gate’s independently developed high-performance Layer 2 network, Gate Layer now fully supports gas-free swaps. When you swap tokens on Gate Layer, if your wallet lacks sufficient native assets, the system will automatically deduct the required gas fees directly from your payment token—eliminating the need to prepare additional native assets to complete your swap.

Gas-Free Swap

What Is a Gas-Free Swap?

Traditionally, when performing a swap, users must pay transaction fees (gas fees) using the native asset of the current network (such as ETH, BNB, etc.). If your wallet doesn’t have enough native assets, the swap process cannot be initiated or completed.

Now, Gate Layer’s on-chain swap officially supports gas-free swaps. When the system detects that your wallet lacks sufficient native assets, it will automatically deduct the corresponding gas fee from your payment token to cover the transaction’s network cost.

Currently, this gas-free swap feature is available exclusively on Gate Layer, with plans to gradually expand to more networks in the future. Before initiating a swap, please check whether the interface displays a message indicating that "tokens can be used to pay gas fees." Please note: the gas-free feature only applies to successful swaps—if the swap fails, no gas deduction will occur.

How to Use the Gas-Free Swap Feature

  1. Go to the Swap page, select the tokens you want to swap on Gate Layer, and click confirm to enter the "Secondary Confirmation" pop-up.
  2. If your wallet has no available GT balance, your payment token will be used to cover the gas fee by default (ensure you have enough of the payment token to trigger this feature).
  3. In the "Secondary Confirmation" pop-up, if you see the message "You currently have insufficient network fees; the swap will use [Token] to pay network fees," it means you can use our gas-free swap feature.
  4. Click confirm and authorize the transaction in your wallet. You can view the gas deduction details in "Transaction History."
  5. In the swap history details, below the estimated network fee, you’ll see "Network Fee Deduction Details."
  6. Clicking this will open a pop-up showing the specific deduction path. You can also click the "Transaction Hash" to view more information. Please note: only successful swaps will complete the gas-free deduction process; if the swap fails, this process will not occur.

We believe that Gate Layer’s officially supported gas-free swap feature will deliver a smoother swapping experience, allowing you to focus on your trading strategies and timing—without interruptions due to gas fees.

We invite you to experience Gate Layer’s gas-free swaps for yourself and discover the convenience and efficiency this innovative feature brings to on-chain trading. We will continue to listen to community feedback and optimize our product, striving to provide you with the best possible on-chain swap service.
