Stop chasing 1:3 trades. Stop chasing spreadsheets. 🛑

For all the traders, especially the new comers, here's an honest advise I would share with you which not many would agree or follow, but that's the truth.
Let me share a personal experience I’ve gone through that completely shifted my performance and finally fixed my PnL.
For a long time, I was obsessed with "God-tier" Risk-Reward ratios. I thought I was a math genius for chasing 1:3 or 1:5 trades. I told myself: "I only need to be right 30% of the time!"
The "Spreadsheet" Reality:
• Trade 1: Loss ❌
• Trade 2: Loss ❌
• Trade 3: Loss ❌
• Trade 4: Loss ❌
That's how it looks on paper.
My brain wasn't wired for it. After that 4th loss in a row, my cortisol would spike. By the 6th loss, my discipline evaporated. I’d revenge trade and tilt. I was trading a spreadsheet, not a human nervous system.
The shift happened when I moved to a 1:1 "Base Hit" strategy.
The 1:1 Reality:
• Trade 1: Win ✅
• Trade 2: Win ✅
• Trade 3: Loss ❌
• Trade 4: Win ✅
The math on paper (10 Trades @ $100 Risk):
🏆 The "Hero" (1:3 RR)• Win Rate: 40% • Math: $1,200 Profit - $600 Loss • Total: $600 Net• Mental State: Burnt out. Constant losing streaks.
✅ The "Pro" (1:1 RR)• Win Rate: 80% • Math: $800 Profit - $200 Loss • Total: $600 Net• Mental State: Flow. High confidence. Easy discipline.
The Profit is the same. The journey is worlds apart. 🌍
More importantly it helps your Body's physiology.
🧠 Every 1:1 win releases Dopamine. Dopamine builds Confidence. Confidence reinforces Discipline.
When you win 8/10 times, your mood stays elevated. You aren't bringing "trading stress" into your living room
.
The Real Win: 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 When you bank a 1:1 trade early, you're done. Shut down the monitors. Go spend quality time with your family. Because your mood is good and your confidence is high, you actually enjoy that time instead of staring at charts on your phone during dinner.
Stop swinging for home runs and striking out. The real liquidity is in the consistency of the base hits.
