Infura launched DIN AVS, introducing a decentralized RPC and API market for EigenLayer.
PANews, November 17 - According to The Block, the decentralized infrastructure network (DIN) built by the Infura team under Consensys will launch its Autonomous Validation Service (AVS) mainnet on EigenLayer, introducing economic security and decentralization features to a field long dominated by a few centralized RPC providers. DIN has been integrated into MetaMask, Ethereum Layer 2 network Linea, and Infura, processing over 13 billion requests monthly across Ethereum, multiple Layer 2 networks, and more than 20 alternative Layer 1 networks. In the AVS model, node providers are rewarded for normal operation and accurate data, while downtime or errors result in penalties. The Infura team pointed out that relying on centralized RPC providers has systemic risks, and service interruptions can affect wallets, dapps, and more. DIN will alleviate this issue through decentralized RPC node supply verified by independent observers and stETH re-staking protection, and will also receive support from ETH and EIGEN in the future. Key features include permissionless access and independent performance verification. During the pilot phase, the incentivized testnet processed over 7 billion requests with a success rate of over 99% and a median latency of less than 250 milliseconds.
