To be honest, this trick is not new - celebrity promotes a coin, retail investors catch a falling knife, and then a rug pull.

This time the protagonist is Russian internet celebrity Mr. Thank You (real name Sergei Kosenko), who has 39.3 million followers on Instagram and has recently been crazily promoting Beercoin (BEER) in his Story. This coin has risen 164% in a week, with a market cap exceeding 250 million USD and a trading volume of 103 million USD in 24 hours. Sounds appealing? Don't be fooled.

This guy himself said, “I am not an expert and I do not give investment advice,” and then turned around and said, “I will wait for the coin to increase tenfold before selling.” This kind of suggestive marketing is simply a textbook-level operation. Moreover, the Instagram story hasn't marked ADV (advertisement label), which is clearly a violation.

What is the truth? This is the classic “celebrity marketing scam” script:
