Ethereum increases gas limit to 60 million, paving the way for layer 1 expansion.

On November 25th, the gas limit of Ethereum increased from 45 million to 60 million, according to data from gaslimit.pics. This adjustment is applied automatically when more than half of the validators agree, without the need for a hard fork. The increase in the gas limit reflects Ethereum's ongoing efforts to improve scalability at Layer 1.

Developer @nate13 emphasizes three key factors that help achieve more robust scaling: EIP-7623 provides a mechanism for block size protection at the protocol layer; optimizing the client software effectively handles high gas demand; and recent testnets demonstrate the ability to transmit blocks stably under increased load. Thanks to these improvements, developers can safely scale Ethereum's transaction capacity without compromising network stability.
