The Astria network based on Celestia has announced the termination of its operations.
According to Deep Tide TechFlow news, on December 3, The Block reported that the Astria network based on Celestia announced the termination of operations, “intentionally stopping” at block 15,360,577. The project was positioned as the “first decentralized shared sorting layer,” aimed at providing decentralized sorter solutions for Layer 2 networks. Despite raising a total of $18 million from 2023 to 2024, including $5.5 million in a seed round led by Maven 11 and $12.5 million in strategic financing led by dba and Placeholder VC, the project failed to gain widespread adoption. Earlier this year, Astria had successively terminated Flame EVM development and Celestia validator operations, and the team has not released detailed statements regarding the decision to completely shut down the network.
